A cloudy warm day with sunny spells.
Kinlay told me that rain was invented on Mull so we were a bit worried, but our fears turned out to be groundless - it was a lovely day!
Oban to Mull
Today we set off at 8:30am for Mull and Iona on the CalMac Ferry. It is a bit of a process finding the entry and driving on. Here is "The Isle of Mull" mooring at the wharf. We ended up driving on in the first group of cars into the back end of the ferry, so drove off at Craignure nearly first!
We sailed passed Castle Duart on Mull, seat of the Clan McLean - one of the Lords of the Isles:
On board you realise that you are in a foreign country
Looking down to Craignure and Mull
On the way over to Fionnphort, where you catch the little ferry to Iona, we saw lots of interesting things in the wilderness.
Lovely stone houses:
Black-faced sheep that wandered over the road:
Bracken on the hills everywhere:
... and a beautiful stone bridge - no longer used - note the Rowan Tree with its red berries to the left:
There was also this noisy waterfall right by the side of the road:
When we got back to Oban at 6:00pm I had Langoustine for take aways - fiddly but nice!
We did the three isle trip which was awesome. visited the puffin sanctuary on Staffa Island as well as Iona.
