Wednesday 1st August - Glasgow and The Provand's Lordship

Wednesday 1st August

Cloudy day and drizzly later

Glasgow and the Provand's Lordship

Just across from the Cathedral was the oldest house in Glasgow built in 1471

Trying to get across the road was really tricky - cars coming from all directions! Finally we made it in one piece. Mary-Ann had to duck to get in - nearly!

First room inside was the Kitchen:

Beside it was a chart explaining all the things that were being prepared or used for dinner:

... with a labelled diagram

In the next room were the table and chairs - beautiful stuff:

We went upstairs:

... to the Canon's study and there he was - still working:

Through the doorway to the next room:

...and there were lots of pictures of The Characters of Glasgow - Hawkie being one of them:

These notes explain where he fitted in:

Red Admiral
On the way back home Mary-Ann spotted a beautiful, but dead, Red Admiral butterfly. We picked it up off the stone step and took it back to a garden and "buried" it there.
