A beautiful warm sunny day
The Gair - Juniper Green
This morning we set off to find The Gair at Juniper Green that J.K.Laidlaw built in 1897 for £700 at 442 Lanark Road, Juniper Green, Edinburgh. That paid for the land, the architect (Edward C.M. Maidman) and the building.
The gate:
Close up of the doorway. The title says "Fides Probata Coronat" which means "Faith Tested Crowns". This was on his gravestone in the Dean Cemetary.
To the left are the initials J K L (John Kinlay Laidlaw) vertically.
On the other side is the date 1897.
From there we drove to The Dawyck Botanic Gardens near Peebles - an off shoot of The Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh
